Asbury United Methodist Church Announces Holy Week and Easter Services

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Asbury United Methodist Church invites the Greater Birmingham community to join in celebrating Holy Week and Easter with a series of meaningful worship services and special events from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday.
The Easter celebration begins with Palm Sunday services on March 29 at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM for Traditional Worship, and 11:00 AM for Modern Worship. Holy Week continues with a Maundy Thursday service on April 2 at noon and 7:00 PM, followed by Good Friday worship on April 3 at 7:00 PM.
Easter Sunday on April 5 will feature multiple service times to accommodate the community, including a sunrise service at 6:30 AM on the prayer mountain, Traditional Worship at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM, and Modern Worship at 11:00 AM.
"Come. Pause to consider the sufferings, death and burial of our Lord, and then go into the world knowing the resurrection awaits," says the church in its invitation to the Good Friday service.
Families with children are welcome to participate in an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM in the gym and outdoor areas. The event will feature age-specific groups hunting thousands of eggs.
In addition to the main Easter services, Asbury will host a Dementia-Friendly Easter Service on Tuesday, March 31 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM in the sanctuary. This casual service will include Holy Communion, an interactive homily, and familiar hymns for families caring for loved ones with memory loss.
Throughout the Lenten season, Asbury offers Daily Bread Devotionals via email and podcast, led by the church's Spiritual Formation Team. The Good Friday service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
