Two kids cruise free with each paid adult during Kids Free San Diego, plus young explorers can take on Flagship’s Junior Captain Challenge
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — September 2026 — October is Kids Free San Diego, and Flagship Cruises & Events is giving families a fun way to experience the city from the water. Throughout October, two children cruise free with each paid adult on Flagship’s San Diego Harbor Tours, giving families an affordable opportunity to explore San Diego Bay together.
This year, kids can do more than enjoy the view. Flagship has introduced the Junior Captain Challenge, a free onboard scavenger hunt and quiz that encourages young passengers to look, listen and discover as they cruise.
Junior Captains are challenged to spot some of San Diego Bay’s most recognizable sights, from the Star of India and USS Midway to California sea lions, the Coronado Bridge, Hotel del Coronado and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. Along the way, they’ll answer questions about San Diego history, wildlife, maritime traditions and the working waterfront.
“San Diego Bay is an incredible outdoor classroom, and there’s something exciting for kids to discover in every direction,” said Heather Boye, Director of Sales and Marketing for Flagship Cruises & Events. “Kids Free October gives families a great reason to get out on the water together, and our Junior Captain Challenge adds another layer of fun by getting kids to really look at what’s around them and learn the stories behind what they see.”
Choose Your San Diego Bay Adventure
Families can choose from Flagship’s North Bay, South Bay or Full Bay Harbor Tours, with each route offering a different perspective on San Diego.
The North Bay route heads toward Point Loma, where passengers can look for Shelter Island, California sea lions around the bait barges and the historic Point Loma lighthouse. The South Bay route explores San Diego’s working waterfront and offers views of the Coronado Bridge, Hotel del Coronado, Navy ships and massive shipbuilding and repair facilities.
Families who take the Full Bay Tour can explore both sides of the harbor—and Junior Captains can try to complete the entire challenge.
Kids can circle their answers as they cruise, then parents can scan the QR code on the activity sheet to check their answers and discover additional fun facts about the landmarks they spotted.
Kids Free Throughout October
Flagship’s Kids Free offer is available October 1–31, 2026, as part of the annual Kids Free San Diego celebration.
Families can choose a North Bay, South Bay or Full Bay Harbor Tour, and two children cruise free with each paid adult.

While onboard, kids can grab a complimentary Flagship Junior Captain Challenge and see how many San Diego Bay landmarks, ships and wildlife they can find along the way.
